Folded Portable Powermat
Keeping your devices charged up whilst you are away from home can be a hassle. For one thing, if you are planning on taking away more than one device you could be lumbered with tons of different power cables, cords, plugs, adapters and other junk. This is because most companies make their own proprietary connections for their devices and finding a truly ‘universal’ adapter is usually impossible. In order for the Powermat to be able to transfer electricity to your favourite devices you will need to install a separate receiver unit on the device itself. Because different devices use different batteries there are several bespoke receivers which are compatible with various gadgets. Owners of iPhones, BlackBerrys and Nintendo DS handheld consoles will all be able to purchase a receiver which fits onto their device and enabled wireless charging via the Powermat. There is no need to remove the receiver when charging is over; you simply pick up the device and go.
The Powermat is a very intelligent device, even in its portable form. It detects when a compatible device is placed onto its surface, checks the battery for activity and discerns the correct amount of current to transfer and for how long it should continue to charge the device. Once the battery is full it will stop charging it to ensure the life span of the battery is preserved. This also makes it an extremely efficient way of charging as it will use precisely the right amount of electricity and no more.
Not all devices have an appropriate receiver and it is likely that many of the devices which you take on your travels will have different power inputs. As such you might consider utilising the Powercube, which is a universal adapter that allows any device to be charged by the Powermat. Another charging option integrated into the Powermat comes in the form of a USB port. This allows any device which utilises a USB connection to charge via its own wire if you are away from a computer and this makes it perfect for use with GPS and media playing gadgets.
The Powermat system for portable recharging is completely safe and stable. Because there are no exposed points of conduction it can be placed on any surface and you can also place other devices and objects onto the mat without damaging either. The portable version of the Powermat comes with its own case which is sealed shut by a clever magnetic latch, but you will need to purchase the correct receivers which are compatible with your devices separately.
