Portable Charging Devices Compared

Folded Portable Powermat

Folded Portable Powermat

Keeping your devices charged up whilst you are away from home can be a hassle. For one thing, if you are planning on taking away more than one device you could be lumbered with tons of different power cables, cords, plugs, adapters and other junk. This is because most companies make their own proprietary connections for their devices and finding a truly ‘universal’ adapter is usually impossible. But for most people there is little choice in the matter. At least this was the case until the Powermat was created. Now there is no need to take a bag full of tangled wires with you every time you go on a trip; the Powermat is an all in one universal charger with a difference.

The most significant advance offered by the Powermat is completely wireless charging. Using inductive charging technology which allows the transfer of electricity between two surfaces without need for a solid connection for conduction, the Powermat can charge up to three different devices simultaneously. Best of all the Powermat is available in a portable version. The portable Powermat can be quickly folded and placed into a bag or indeed a glove compartment for storage and transportation.

In order for the Powermat to be able to transfer electricity to your favourite devices you will need to install a separate receiver unit on the device itself. Because different devices use different batteries there are several bespoke receivers which are compatible with various gadgets. Owners of iPhones, BlackBerrys and Nintendo DS handheld consoles will all be able to purchase a receiver which fits onto their device and enabled wireless charging via the Powermat. There is no need to remove the receiver when charging is over; you simply pick up the device and go.

The Powermat is a very intelligent device, even in its portable form. It detects when a compatible device is placed onto its surface, checks the battery for activity and discerns the correct amount of current to transfer and for how long it should continue to charge the device. Once the battery is full it will stop charging it to ensure the life span of the battery is preserved. This also makes it an extremely efficient way of charging as it will use precisely the right amount of electricity and no more.

Not all devices have an appropriate receiver and it is likely that many of the devices which you take on your travels will have different power inputs. As such you might consider utilising the Powercube, which is a universal adapter that allows any device to be charged by the Powermat. Another charging option integrated into the Powermat comes in the form of a USB port. This allows any device which utilises a USB connection to charge via its own wire if you are away from a computer and this makes it perfect for use with GPS and media playing gadgets.

The Powermat system for portable recharging is completely safe and stable. Because there are no exposed points of conduction it can be placed on any surface and you can also place other devices and objects onto the mat without damaging either. The portable version of the Powermat comes with its own case which is sealed shut by a clever magnetic latch, but you will need to purchase the correct receivers which are compatible with your devices separately.

Power Packs and Power Adaptors Replaced

Powermats replace power adaptors

Powermats replace power adaptors

On opening up any new mobile phone, gadget or gizmo you will no doubt encounter a small polythene bag containing the power adaptor. These will usually come in two varieties; the first will be a plug attached to a proprietary connection unique to the manufacturer of the device. If you lose the adaptor you will lose the ability to charge the device and so you will need to buy a replacement. The second will result in you receiving a device which uses an extremely common power connection type and you will simply throw the plug into a draw which contains innumerable identical Adaptors, creating a tangled mess. In either case, keeping your devices charged and ready to use will be more difficult than it needs to be. But power packs, power Adaptors and messy plug cables are now a thing of the past, all thanks to a new product, called simply the Powermat.

The Powermat works on the relatively simple principle of inductive charging. Without getting into the technical mumbo jumbo, this basically comes down to the face that the Powermat is able to provide wireless charging to virtually all of your existing electronic gadgets. The Powermat is the first in what will surely be a growing market for wireless charging and the massive convenience it offers should be obvious.

The Powermat is an unassuming, flat, thin device that is designed to sit atop a desk at home or in an office environment. Devices you wish to charge will need to be fitted with receivers which make them compatible with the Powermat system and these are sold separately. When you place a device with the correct receiver onto the Powermat it will begin to charge and you can place it anywhere on the mat so long as the surface of the receiver is in contact with the surface of the mat itself.

Up to three devices can be charged using a standard Powermat and there is even a portable version which can be folded concertina style in order to take up less room. Popular gadgets such as the BlackBerry smartphones and the Apple iPhone have their own custom receivers which integrate virtually seamlessly into the design of the phone. You can place the device down onto the Powermat as you sit down at your desk, then whisk it off when you need to leave. Whilst the device is on the Powermat it will be charging, so you will never be caught short with a dead battery or have to fork out for a lost power adaptor – yet again.

You may be familiar with the technology used by the Powermat if you have ever owned an electric toothbrush with a charging station. The Powermat represents a cutting edge advancement in this technology which allows it to be considerably more energy efficient than earlier inductive chargers. It is also completely safe to touch because there are no exposed conductors, so you need not worry about electric shocks or damage to other devices.

Although you will need to purchase a compatible receiver for the devices you wish to charge using the Powermat, in the future you should expect to see many devices sold including built in compatibility with inductive charging methods.

Portable charger for gadgets

Portable charger for gadgets

In this digital age it is possible to perform previously impossible feats whilst away from your home or office. Smartphones allow you to send and receive emails and surf the internet from anywhere in the country, whilst handheld consoles have come on in leaps and bounds with innovative interfaces and multimedia capabilities. You can now conduct business and keep your social life afloat wherever you are. However, powering the gadgets that make all this possible when you are on the road can be a bit of a struggle. Car Adaptors are all well and good, but to power the many gadgets you own will require several glove compartments full of bits and pieces to fit all of the different device connections.

There is a solution to all of your travel charging woes in the shape of the Powermat Portable. It has all of the same functionality of the Powermat home and office, but with the added bonus of being supremely portable thanks to its folding design and included magnetic carry case.

The Powermat portable is the first consumer device that allows you to wirelessly charge your battery powered devices and because it uses inductive electrical transfer it is completely safe and does not need multiple Adaptors to let you charge every gadget you own. In order to charge your gadgets you will need to fit them with a compatible receiver. For owners of iPhones, BlackBerrys and Nintendo DSis the news is good; there are custom designed receivers ready and waiting to be integrated into your device. Most other devices can be charged by the Powermat Powercube universal charger, which can connect to everything from mobile phones to digital cameras and allow them to be charged via the Powermat.

The Powermat Portable is capable of charging up to three devices simultaneously and its intelligent design means it will never waste energy. Once you place your device onto the Powermat Portable the magnetic surface of the receiver and the mat will ensure that a proper connection is made and an audio signal will let you know that charging has begun. The mat will communicate with the receiver to ensure that the correct level of power is delivered to the device for the right amount of time. Once the battery is full, the Powermat will automatically stop giving it power, which will improve the longevity of the battery itself and makes the whole process still more efficient.

One benefit of the Powermat Portable is that even when it is not charging your devices it will monitor the battery. If it detects that you are using the device, it will begin charging it again, so you will never again run down the battery whilst you are on the road.

The receivers which allow the Powermat Portable to charge devices need to be purchased separately and if you have an incompatible device you can still keep it charged thanks to the included USB port which will ensure an even more universal level of portable power. You could even use the Powermat Portable to keep your Sat Nav system powered to make sure you do not suffer any unwanted outages whilst you are on the road. Travel gadgets are becoming increasingly important for people from all walks of life and the Powermat makes keeping them charged when you are out in the field a joy rather than a chore.

Opt for a Powermat to Get Rid of Bulky Wired Chargers

The chargers have always been a endanger and it may be your home or your office you would be capable to find bunch of wires wind up and you would not know which charger belongs to which device or widgets. opposite types of products like cell phones, iPods, DVD players, portable gaming consoles and digital cameras are the gadgets needing the recharging wires. The pick of Powermat radio charger can solve the problem of number of chargers.
There are many electronic items that can be charged with your wireless charger such as gaming consoles, cell phones and other wares. It can even charge the Bluetooth headset of your cell phones. The Powermat’s operating is quite contrary from that of the wired chargers. You have to place the knob of the wire into the charging hole of the device to charge it in the case of wired chargers. But in the case of powermat charger you have to relate the charger with the only wire used with the provide and you have to place the device to be charged on the powermat charging pad.
A charging indicate is transmitted after the joining is established between the powermat wireless charger and the receiving pad. Unless the link establishment is not done the right way the Powermat charger would not transmit the signals as there are chances of energy lose. So, the worry about the loss of electricity becomes over. The charger would make the transmission safe and secure and economical at the same time. At first the proper receiving of the signal by the device is assured by the charger and then after the battery level of the device is checked. It will not charge if the battery is full and a sound will be produced to let you know that the device is full of charge.
The Powermat charger will allow you to charge the device fully and when the charging is complete without wasting any energy it would go to the sleep mode. The sound and the light which are the pointing signals of the powermat radio charger are transferable and the level of their intensity can be increased and reduced and even can be turned off. The auto shutdown mode allows you to charge improve and save electricity. In the case of powermat radio charger you do not have to worry about overcharging which can cause the inflammation and decrease of life of the device.
There are some special devices that would require a separate wireless charging receivers. For instance BlackBerry requires a Receiver Battery Door. The RIM BlackBerry and other models would also need the Receiver Battery Door for BlackBerry which has to be bought singly. Like this other companies like Apple, Nokia, Motorola, Sony Erickson, etc. ask their own receiver battery door.
The mini USB and micro USB options can be used to charge some devices. So, one should select the right type of the powermat wireless charger that suits his/her device and not the devices that is not needed to the concerned person.

PowerMat Wirelessly Charges Almost Any Device

The PowerMat sets out to solve your charging dilemas. If you have multiple devices and chargers running rampant, you can hook up the PowerMat and “cut the cord”. The wireless charging solution charges up to 3 devices at a time, all without the need for conventional wired chargers. You simply place down the PowerMat, plug it in (ironic right?), choose your weapon (aka wireless receiver or “PowerCube”) and charge away. The PowerMat feature and array of wireless receivers (battery doors) for various devices that you simply snap on and you’re done. Place the device on the PowerMat and it charges. Included is a PowerCube with multiple adapters for devices such as iPods, Nintendo DS and mirco USB. The PowerMat Portable Mat folds up into a neat travel case allowing you to take it anywhere, while the cleaner Home and Office Mat looks a bit nicer but isn’t built for portability.

After playing around with the PowerMat for a few weeks, I honestly think it is more of a novelty for BlackBerry users than anything. Using a BlackBerry Charging Pod (at 1/4 of the cost) is a much easier solution with no additional accessories involved. The PowerMat requires either the PowerCube and adapter (which ultimately is the same as just plugging in your device) or a wireless receiver that will cost extra on top of the PowerMat price. That said, it is pretty cool. :)

Powermats for Essential Life Hacking

I’m no gadget guru, but I am always interested in new developments in technology and especially life hacks that make life easier. I’m short on time, space and need gadgets that are efficient and last a long time.

Therefore, the Powermat is an ideal gadget for busy people on the go. It means that you can leave it placed near your front door as you walk in so that as soon as you get home from work, you can place your mobile phone and your Blackberry from work straight on the mat and let it charge while you do other things.

You barely have to think about charging again.

Powermat Home and Office

Powermat Home and Office

Because you can charge up to 3 gadgets at once, you don’t even have to worry about spare electricity sockets; you only need one. Even if you have spare sockets, that frees them up for other items and means you don’t have to be eternally swapping around plugs and sockets and sacrificing gadgets or electronics in the process. The Home and Office Powermat is my ideal choice for all these purposes.

However, if I’m thinking about travelling, which I often do with work, then I highly recommend the Portable Powermat docking station. It’s like the Home and Office Powermat, but you can fold it up to save space in your luggage. I’d recommend setting it up as soon as you get to your hotel so that you never have to think about charging your mobile phone or gadgets while you’re away on business.

Both products are durable and are pleasing to the eye. They look good considering they perform such a basic and vital function. I’d recommend comparing prices of the Powermats as they change regularly. Some websites offer warranties and other benefits too along with different delivery times and rates, so make sure you compare prices.
